Sick Summer Drag and Drive - Day 4 Great Lakes Dragaway
Here is my coverage of Sick Summer Drag and Drive 2024 event on Day 4 when the cars came to Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, Wisconsin. If you don't know, this is an event where race cars drive to 5 different tracks and race in 5 days and hand in there best time slips. The only people that can work on the cars is the driver and co pilot, and they can tow a trailer behind for all the gear and tools that they will need.
Super cool event that has the theme of the "Two Lane Blacktop" movie where James Taylor (the singer) drives a 1955 Chevy from track to track and from town to town to race cars and make money. Bringing only slicks and a toolbox in the trunk of the car.

This for sure is the Wildest Chevy Nova I have ever seen in person. Not only does it look mean and nasty it also backs up the looks with speed and performance. It is a steel body, stock wheelbase 1969 Chevy Nova with a 526 Big Block with a Whipple blower ontop of it and a Bruno Lenco Transmission. Most of these cars have same problem. All of the weight is in the front. Move all of that weight( engine, tranny) to the rear like Hemi under glass and the little Red Wagon. Then set up your steering like those big old modified pilling tractors, Hand throttle, individual brake pedals for the brakes. Then put a window in the floorboard to see the track while the car is up in the air.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. I believe... but don't know 100% for sure but the group of guys in this event try to keep the vehicles looking like a regular street car or race car and not a purpose built wheelie car. I know they have a lot of pride in what they do and want to separate themselves from purpose built wheelie cars that are made to do quarter mile wheelies with no problems. These kind of wheelie have an art to it between balance off the back bumper and the amount of power you can throw at it before the rear tires get off the ground and slam the car back down to earth.

Love it , i hade a 58 chevy with a 427 4spd. My and my olðer brother built it gasser style with a stateaxle front end with an all steal tilt nose. Home made. My first street car.
